Teaching Assistant Policy
Members of the faculty may apply for a borrowing card for their T.A. The T.A card is issued to the faculty member. The approved T.A. may borrow materials from Ladd Library, MaineCat, and ILL for the faculty member. The student is required to present the T.A. card, as well as his/her Bates ID to verify identification for each library transaction.
The faculty member is responsible for all materials borrowed by the T.A. The student is restricted from using the card for personal use. Courtesy notices, and overdue notices are sent to the faculty member’s email account.
Applications for the T.A. card are available at the Circulation Desk or use the online form. The application is completed by the faculty member. Please note; the expiration date will determine the due date for materials that are typically given a 365 day loan. This policy will help ensure the return of materials before the T.A. graduates or leaves campus for extended periods. The faculty member sets the expiration date of the card, typically the end of the semester, or the end of the academic year.
The student’s signature is required on the form. The competed form is delivered to the Circulation Department of Ladd Library.
Please note; all materials borrowed via MaineCat must be checked out to the person completing the online request only. Virtual records are not transferrable.
