The Bates Outing Club, founded in 1920, is a major student organization at the college. It is among the oldest collegiate outing clubs in the country and the first at a private college to include both men and women from the beginning.

The Bates Outing Club has connected hundreds of people to the college in a unique way. The stories they tell, the careers they have followed, the enduring friendships they maintain, are all testimony to the importance the BOC has had in shaping their lives.

Fall Fest Trip to the Bates Outing Club Lean-To TONIGHT!The Outing Club maintains the lean-to in Greene for use by all students, come check it out and learn where it is on our first organized lean-to trip of the year! The Outing Club can provide sleeping bags and sleeping pads for those who need them and if you have early classes you will be able to get back in time for 8:00 AM. Sign up for the Lean-To Trip here!
