  • Bates Students Win Awards in Consulate-General of Japan Language Contest
    Two students of Japanese won awards at the 13th Annual Japanese Language Contest held on Saturday, March 30th, 2024, at the Consulate-General of Japan in Boston.Alan Wang ’24 won first place in the Speech Contest in the College Advanced Division.Emma Erkkila ’26 won third place in the Essay Contest in the College Beginner Division.   • Dumpling Making on February 9th
    On February 9th, which coincided with the 2024 Spring Festival Eve, the Chinese program held a dumpling-making event. Students learned to make dumplings together and tasted different types of Chinese food.  Students also watched the 2024 China Spring Festival Gala and celebrated the Chinese Spring Festival together.   • Spring Festival Couplets Making
    On Jan 19th the Chinese Program held a Spring Festival Couplets making events. Students learnt how to write Spring Festival couplets and made some decorations for the upcoming Chinese New Year. Many thanks to Elaine Wang ’27 and Eddy Wang ’24 for their help.

  • Chinese Karaoke
    On December 8th, the Chinese program held a fun Chinese Karaoke night. Students enjoyed their time, relaxing for a while before finals began. Many thanks to Lendro Hu ’24, Chris Lu ’24, and other Chinese students for their help! 
  • Mid-Autumn Festival 2023
    On September 29th, the Chinese program held an activity to celebrate the Mid-Autumn Festival. Students ate traditional mooncakes and Chinese snacks, and watched Mid-Autumn Festival programs. They also learnt how to draw Chinese paintings for the Mid-Autumn Festival. Many thanks to Moeka Koda, Japanese LA, who took photos of this activity.
