- Old Business
- Alyssa, as a member of the RA, returned to an amendment proposed last meeting, regarding the structure and function of the COC. Tommy responded by talking about the process that he and the EC were undergoing regarding the writing of COC guidelines. Ultimately, the amendment was not presented according to the Parliamentarian’s interpretation of the Constitution, due to a membership at the meeting that was not ¾ of the entire RA.
- There was discussion about the interpretation of the constitutional clause stating that ¾ of the RA be present when amendments are both proposed and voted on.
- There was a vote to support the President to suspend the rules, in order to allow a presentation of the amendment:
- For: 17. Against: 7. Abstaining: 1.
- However, Berto did not feel comfortable suspending the rule.
- More discussion was held about what the RA wishes to see in the COC guidelines that are being created.
- New Business
- Qiu, our faculty advisor, came and answered questions about Late at Bates, the new funding source for events at Bates, which can be held at different spaces around campus. These events, some of which can be held with alcohol, are open to be hosted by any student groups and students in general, and can be held after 9:00pm on Fridays or Saturdays.
- Adjournment
- Motion: For: 21. Against: 2. Abstaining: 2. Adjourned.
Respectfully Submitted,
