Bobcat Express Academic Schedule & Services

The Bobcat Express is a shuttle service offered to Bates College students. Please see below for a listing of services and schedules.

Academic Schedule:

**Starting Sept. 4 through Sept. 13 one shuttle van will cover daytime Accessible Support, CEL and Medical Escorts, Monday-Friday, 8a-6p.

**L/A Express Shuttle will resume regular operation starting Sept 4.

Bobcat Express Transportation Services Overview

The Bates College Transportation Office is committed to providing transportation support to facilitate both academic and co-curricular programming for students with accessible needs and disabilities.

Students must receive a referral from Accessible Education, Bates Sports Medicine or Health Services to access the Accessible Support Shuttle. Students must schedule rides in advance and will be picked up well in advance of classes.

Destinations outside the published routes or those that are beyond Lewiston/Auburn are NOT within our regular service area. THE BOBCAT EXPRESS DOES NOT PROVIDE TRANSPORTATION OUTSIDE THESE SERVICE AREAS.

Please read the Accessibility Transportation Policy BEFORE submitting an ESA Transportation Request Form.

ESA Transportation forms MUST be submitted a MINIMUM of 48 hours in advance of the requested transportation. Destinations outside the published routes or those that are beyond Lewiston/Auburn are NOT within our regular service area. THE BOBCAT EXPRESS DOES NOT PROVIDE TRANSPORTATION OUTSIDE THESE SERVICE AREAS.

– Two Lewiston CELS and one Auburn CELS offer transportation for service learning engagements, student teaching, internships, SLS related employment and college sponsored community service activities.

-IF YOU REQUIRE EMERGENCY MEDICAL ATTENTION or TRANSPORTATION CALL 911!

-For NON-EMERGENCY medical transportation : Students seeking transportation to local hospitals (non-emergencies), urgent care, physical therapy, medical appointments within the Lewiston/Auburn service area, must make prior arrangements by filling out the Medical Transportation Request Form at least 48 hours BEFORE the intended medical transport.

Medical reservations require at least 48 hours notice for proper processing. Medical reservation requests are not processed outside of regular business hours.

– Safe Rides are available to students, 24 hours a day, anytime they don’t feel safe walking by themselves. This is not intended for groups larger than two. The Safe Ride Shuttle may also be used to travel, to and from off campus housing, for those students residing off-campus.

When the Safe Ride Shuttle is not available, Campus Safety Officers are happy to assist with a Safe Ride Escort. Campus Safety reserves the right to escort students via walking in lieu of using a vehicle.

A valid Bates ID must be presented to the shuttle driver.  

Neither the Safe Ride Shuttle, nor Safe Ride Escort transports students to/from bars or off-campus parties. 

Disorderly students will not be transported and no food or alcohol will be transported in the shuttle. The Safe Ride Shuttle reserves the right to refuse transport.

– Provides transportation to local stores for shopping and local restaurants.

-Calling for an L/A Express Shuttle is not necessary, students should report to the pick up area for transportation at the appropriate time depending on their destination. Top of each hour, Auburn destinations and Lewiston destination, on the half hour.

Auburn destinations leave from the Chu parking lot on the hour and Lewiston destinations on the half hour. 

Please check times above for the last OUTBOUND shuttle to convenience destinations. 

The L/A Express WILL NOT transport students to or from bars or off-campus parties.

Transportation Beyond Lewiston/Auburn

-UPDATED 7/22/24

NEW commuter bus service to/from Bates College, Portland and beyond, starting on Monday, July 22, 2024. Schedule details and ticket information can be found on the Token Transit app. Tickets can be purchased on the app by selecting “Buy Passes” and then searching for “The LAP.” Drivers will also accept cash payments with exact amounts. Fare for a one way trip is $8.00. 

The pick up/drop off area is beside the Gomes Chapel on College St.
