Important Information for Attendees of Colisee Takeover 2025

Campus Life is excited to welcome you to the first Colisee Takeover this Friday, January 31st from 8pm to 12am at the Colisee. We’re sharing this message to advise you what to expect at the event. Please take a moment to read through it, and contact us at campuslife@bates.edu if you have any questions.

As Colisee Takeover is an off campus event, please note that attendees must take one of the provided buses to attend. Bus tickets can be found on Bates Engage. Buses will load in front of Chase Hall and drop off will also happen at Chase Hall.

Expect there to be a line as buses load -Please attempt to stay in as close to a single-file line as possible, and do not push or crush against others in an effort to get into the bus faster – this can create an unsafe situation, putting fellow attendees and staff at risk of injury.

When you first get in line there will be a ticket check and a security check happening at the bus loop. You will first be asked to present your ticket to have it scanned by an event staff member. You then will go through the security check. Then if you have a purse or small bag, you will be asked to open it for a brief visual search. If you have a liquid container like a water bottle, you will be asked to empty it. If are wearing outerwear, you will be be asked to open it for a brief pat down of the pockets. If you are wearing other clothing with pockets, you will be asked to empty them for inspection. Once these safety checks are finished, you will be directed to continue forward into the bus. A Campus Life Event Staff member will give you a rundown of the event space and bus expectations, and then you are off.

When you arrive at the Colisee you will be greeted by event staff and shown to the venue. Bates has access to the concession stand, ice rink, and Colisee Club. We ask that you refrain from entering other areas such as the locker rooms. There is a cash bar at the Colisee Club and we will be checking your Bates ID to see if you are able to purchase alcohol (cash preferred or opening a tab with a card). We also have ice skates available for students to use. We ask that you be aware of fellow Bobcats and return the skates when you are done.

There will be a number of staff on site at the venue to help make your experience as enjoyable as possible. This includes Campus Life Event Staff, Taylor Made security staff, Campus Life Event Security, Campus Safety staff, and Lewiston Police, among others. We encourage you to review the Roles and Responsibilities section of the Campus Life Event Policy to understand what each staff member’s function is at an event.

Please look out for your friends and fellow Batesies on Friday. Should you, a friend, or someone nearby need assistance during the event, please locate a staff member. If you are in need of emergency response, please contact Campus Safety at 207.786.6111 immediately.

That’s it! Our goal in Campus Life is to offer and support events that are safe, inclusive, and fun for the Bates community, and we are thrilled to partner with the Colisee for this event. For easy reference, please see the description of the event below; see you on Saturday!
