About

Jamie Watkins (he/him) is a Senior Academic Technology Consultant and the Manager of the Bates College Digital Media Studios. He provides training and support for students, faculty, and staff working on multimedia projects and assignments. Jamie holds a BA from Vassar College, as well as a Certificate from the London Academy of Dramatic Art, and Maine Media Workshops + College.

At Bates, Jamie provides in-class workshops, offers one-on-one student mentorship, and develops asynchronous resources and tutorials. He manages the Digital Media Studios (bates.edu/digital-media), a cross-curricular facility equipped with professional-grade Editing Suites, a Photo/Video Production Studio, an Animation Studio, an iMac Teaching Lab, and a Loaner Pool of multimedia production equipment. Whether it’s supporting a senior majoring in Arts and Visual Culture putting the final touches on their latest short film, or a freshman creating their very first podcast for a Biology and Science Communication course, his goal is to support the Bates community as they engage with media creation in their coursework, and beyond.

In addition to his role with ILS, Jamie is a member of IMPACT21st (https://www.bates.edu/impact21st/) a Bates initiative dedicated to the transformative integration of technology and the arts, made possible with funding from the Sherman Fairchild Foundation.
