Research
All faculty in the Bates Chemistry department have active research programs, and three of our faulty support their research through externally funded federal grants. In addition, all of our faculty involve students in research.
Bates has a very active summer research program, with 15-20 students participating in lab research every summer. Students also take part in research through independent study and most importantly, through our senior thesis requirement. Students regularly co-author papers with faculty and present their work at national and regional meetings.
For more information on specific research in our department, please see our faculty profiles.
