Bates College Catering supports clubs by fulfilling catering orders and providing meal replacement food. If you have questions, please contact Catering at bobcatcatering@groups.bates.edu.
Catering Orders
Catering can provide the food for your event, charged directly to your club account. Please submit your catering request below no later than 5 business days prior to your event date. Examples of typical catering requests for club events include: cookies, brownies, other desserts, coffee, tea, chai, and water – though they’re capable of much more! Meal Replacements (FREE for clubs)
Catering provides two on-campus meal replacement options for BCSG-recognized clubs. Club members pick up the materials from Commons, and then cook for a meeting or event. Catering also can provide food to pick-up and take with you for extended off-campus travel. Catering requires the submission of the names of all individuals who will be partaking in the meal, who should be advised that they will not eat in Commons for that meal period. Standard On the Run Meals
Barbecues
Barbecue season is from the start of the academic year through October 15, and the first three weeks of Short Term. Students may not use grills outside of these dates.
Meal replacement barbecues provide hamburgers, hot dogs, veggie burgers, buns, chips, lettuce, sliced tomatoes, pickles, onions, sliced cheese, ketchup, relish, mustard, pasta or potato salad, fruit salad or sliced watermelon, assorted cookies and brownies, assorted beverages, and necessary paper products. Cooking utensils may be available for a small deposit, which will be returned to you upon utensil return.
Please note that students wishing to use the grill at Kalperis Hall or Gillespie Hall must complete the Campus Grill Certification on Bates Engage. This must be completed each academic year for grill access.
