Several AI resources are readily available on campus.
Google NotebookLM
An AI research assistant that helps users make connections between sources from various media file types. It’s available for Bates users. To access, log in at https://notebooklm.google.com/ using your Bates credentials.
Google Gemini
Google’s multimodal AI model, which can “understand and reason across different types of information including text, images, audio, video, and code.” Gemini is available for all Bates users from the Bates Google Workspace
Google Classroom
Google’s Learning Management is available to Bates users. Several AI features and tools are available for use with Google Classroom. If you’d like a Google Classroom set up to support your class, please contact ats@groups.bats.edu.
LMSTudio.ai
LMStudio.ai is a freely available application you can install on your personal computer to run LLM’s locally on your computer for experimentation and testing (see about for further details).
ChatGPT Plus
The paid subscription plan for OpenAI’s ChatGPT that includes several features not available in the free version, including access to GPT-4 which is more powerful, accurate, and capable of handling more complex queries than the free version (GPT-3.5).

Adobe Firefly
Generative AI tools and features built into Adobe creative apps, which are available on computers in campus computer labs.
Mentimeter
Mentimeter, an interactive presentation tool, recently added AI-powered features intended to save time and provide deeper insights into student responses. Bates faculty have access to the Pro version of Mentimeter. (To request access please complete this Google form).
Bobcat Chatbot
An AI tool designed to improve user experience on the Bates College website by providing quick answers and assistance based on the site’s content.
