cream cheese/butter

cream cheese/butter

I read the previous napkin about this issue and totally understand the sustainability efforts, however as a student with immune problems and especially given all of the illness outbreaks happening constantly, I am still concerned about the setup of the butter and cream cheese and no longer eat any toast or bagels. Yes, it is up to code, but the toaster area is unique because of how many people are standing right there over the spreads talking, breathing, and coughing on everything. Also combined with students using a personal utensil and going back and forth from their food to the communal tub, this makes it feel unsanitary, it creates crowding, and it leaves everything full of crumbs and I’ve even seen hairs on multiple occasions. It would be great if we could access individual/cleaner servings on request or this issue was not dismissed as quickly as in the previous note.

Thank you for sharing your concerns. We appreciate your feedback and understand the importance of maintaining a setup that feels both safe and sanitary for all students, especially those with specific health needs. While the current setup aligns with food safety guidelines, we recognize that it may not fully address your concerns. To explore potential accommodations that better suit your needs, I encourage you to reach out to Daisy Haskle dhaskel@bates.edu, who can assist in finding a solution that works for you.

Best
