Three-Year Plan and the TPT

Information about the three-year plan (3YP) and the Teaching-Planning Tool (TPT)

The 3YP is a spreadsheet that helps the AAC do academic planning. It has a set of tabs that program and department chairs can use to forecast personnel needs for their academic unit over the next three years. It is designed to combine information about leaves, course releases, additional courses, replacement courses, and retirements in one place. This process does NOT replace the faculty line/lectureship proposal process (if you plan to participate in that), although information about anticipated proposals is requested to be included in the 3YP on the Line Request tab. Each chair must complete a 3-year plan by October 7 each year. If you have questions about how to fill it out, please contact Matt Duvall (mduvall@bates.edu). When you have completed your unit’s plan, you may submit it on this page (below), or email it to Matt Duvall. Download a blank 3YP here.

The TPT helps chairs think about workload in their program or department. It is an online “dashboard’ where department and program members can see information about workload distribution in their academic unit. That dashboard will be available September 1.
