Visiting Assistant Professor of Biology (R2357) The Department of Biology at Bates College invites applications for a one year, full-time, Visiting Assistant Professor of Molecular Biology, to begin July 1 2026. We seek an outstanding teacher-scholar with strong commitments to excellent undergraduate teaching and mentorship in a liberal arts context. A Ph.D. is required prior to starting.

Professor of Chemistry and Biochemistry (R2349) The Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry at Bates College invites applications for an open rank tenure-track/tenured position in biochemistry, with preference for an Associate or Full Professor, to begin July 2026.

Professor of Chemistry and Biochemistry (R2355) The Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry at Bates College invites applications for a tenured position as an Associate Professor or Full Professor in analytical chemistry, to begin July 2026.

Visiting Assistant Professor(s) of Chemistry and Biochemistry (R2352) The Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry at Bates College, a private, highly selective liberal arts college in Maine, invites applications for up to five Visiting Assistant Professor (VAP) positions to begin July 1, 2026. The positions each carry a five-course annual teaching load including some subset of general chemistry (lecture and lab), analytical chemistry, organic chemistry, and biochemistry (lecture and lab) (course descriptions may be found here).

Visiting Assistant Professor(s) of Economics (R2363) The Bates College Economics Department invites applications for two one-year visiting assistant professor positions beginning July, 2026. The successful candidates must combine research in their field(s) of specialization with a willingness to teach intermediate microeconomic theory with calculus, or statistics using Stata, and electives in their areas of expertise.

Visiting Assistant Professor of English (R2359) The English Department at Bates College seeks applications from candidates for a two-year full-time visiting position at the level of Assistant Professor in Medieval Literature with a secondary field of expertise in Nineteenth-Century British Literature, to begin July 1, 2026.

Visiting Assistant Professor of History (R2362) The Department of History at Bates College in Lewiston, Maine, invites applications for a two-year Visiting Assistant Professor of History to begin work July 1, 2026. We seek applicants who can teach the history of the Americas. One course must be a survey of Latin American history, 1491-present. Other courses could focus on one or multiple regions of the hemisphere.
