Tools for Teaching
On January 18, 2018, Thursday, at 4:15 pm in Pettengill G21, “Tools for Teaching: Leveraging Technology to Improve Classroom Content Delivery” was presented by Adrienne Lucas, Associate Professor of Economics from the University of Delaware.
Talk Description: Despite the recent increase in the number of children enrolled in school in developing countries, we know surprisingly little about how to increase and encourage achievement among middle school learners. This study finds that a low intensity education technology intervention in grade 8 in Punjab, Pakistan dramatically increased student learning after only 4 months of exposure—students in treatment schools learned 50% more math and almost twice as much science as students in control schools. This program is one of the most cost-effective technology programs in a developing country.
