Justin Baumann is an assistant professor of Environmental Studies. He is a marine ecophysiologist who specializes in understanding the effects of climate change on corals and rocky intertidal invertebrates. More specifically, he is interested in mechanisms underlying stress responses in organisms, scaling this mechanistic understanding to the ecosystem level, and restoration ecology and applied solutions.

Justin teaches courses in the environmental sciences, including: introductory environmental science, experimental design (and R) for environmental science, and a number of marine science electives. Justin’s approach to teaching and research is focused on hands-on active learning and quantitative skill building. Justin is an avid R user and builds programming into his courses and research.
