Daniella Muyangayanga Namulisa (TA in French)

Daniella is the International Teaching Assistant in the French and Francophone Studies Department for the academic year 2024-25. She is a Teaching and Research Assistant at the Catholic University of Bukavu (DRC) in the Department of Social Sciences. She is from Bukavu, the capital of the South Kivu Province located in the Eastern part of the Democratic Republic of Congo.

In 2023, she graduated from the Catholic University of Bukavu in Human Resources Management and Labor Science and received a diploma in Social Sciences. She studied the impact of management on organizational development and change and worked on the impact of health and safety management on organizational performance in agro-pastoral organizations. She also wrote a paper in the Global Pen Friends of Antwerp University on the promotion of decent work for all.

She enjoys teaching and research. She plans to enroll in a PhD program in Medical and Cultural Anthropology to develop and deepen her knowledge of ethnographic and anthropological studies on the risks of emerging infectious diseases—a field in which she has worked during the last two years. She is interested in gender issues, the promotion of women’s rights in the world, and the fight against women.

She loves discovering new people and exploring new places and has a penchant for cultural exchange, immersion, and sharing of experiences. As an International Teaching Assistant in French and Francophone Studies at Bates College, she is looking forward to collaborating with students about the French language, increasing their knowledge of French, developing their analytical capacities, and sharing with them facets of French and Francophone cultures.
