Tetiana Cherednichenko: The 2024-2025 Teaching Assistant in Russian

My name is Tetiana, and I’m thrilled to join the Bates College community as your new Teaching Assistant for Russian. I am originally from Ukraine, where I grew up in the central region and spent the seven years before the war living in Kyiv. There, I graduated from university with a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and a Master’s degree in Religious Studies.

I grew up bilingual, with Ukrainian as my first language, taught by my parents, and Russian absorbed simultaneously through TV, books, and friends.

I moved to the USA in 2022, and since then, I’ve been working at a resettlement agency in Lewiston, helping other immigrants start their new lives here. I’ve always found joy in learning languages and connecting with people from different parts of the world. I see language not only as the key to communicating with people from other countries, but also as a gateway to new perspectives and cultures.

As a Teaching Assistant for Russian, my goal is to support you in your language-learning journey. Whether you’re just starting or continuing your studies, I’m here to help you explore the Russian-speaking world in a way that’s both educational and enjoyable. I hope you’ll find the same joy in learning a new language as I do.
