Each year, faculty from various departments spend up to 4 weeks teaching an Off-Campus Short Term Course abroad or elsewhere within the United States with a group of students.

These courses provide excellent opportunities for faculty and students to work together off-campus, away from the temptations of Short Term campus life.  Past topics have included geology field studies in Colorado; biomedicine and human rights in Chile; art and culture in Vietnam; Shakespeare in London; and the complex legacy of genocide in Rwanda.  As with Fall Semester Abroad programs, faculty are expected to take the lead in all aspects of these courses, including academic leadership, itinerary planning, recruiting students, financial, travel and logistical arrangements, budgeting, and student support in close collaboration with the Center for Global Education.

The Off-Campus Study Committee evaluates proposals and selects a balanced set of courses for final approval by the Academic Affairs Council. Information to help plan a course, a planning timeline, the proposal form and supporting materials are available below.
