Outside Scholarship Opportunities
Many study abroad programs have scholarship programs that can reduce study abroad costs. Most of the opportunities require that you be a participant on the specific study abroad program (IES, CIEE, SIT). However, there are some non-program specific opportunities. If you receive financial aid from Bates, outside scholarships can be used to cover the work-study and loan portions of your aid package. You retain the remaining money unless your Bates grant and outside grant exceed the “Cost of Attendance.”
Below is a sampling of available scholarships, these have various application deadlines and requirements. As you research programs for study, we suggest you also research potential scholarship opportunities.
