Maggie Barber lives and works in San Diego, at the Univ. of San Diego, coordinating the Educational Leadership Development Academy, a leadership preparation program for aspiring school principals. “The research I’m doing on the program I run is being used for my dissertation at Columbia University Teachers College, where I’m completing my doctorate.”… In Portland, Jason Hanley helped to organize Baystock, a charity concert in August 2004 benefited the Cancer Community Center, United Way, and the Jessie Bullens-Crewe Foundation, which raises money for pediatric cancer research. Six different bands were featured, including King Memphis, Brilliant Mistakes, Cindy Bullens, and Lisa Loeb…. Joshua Holdeman joined Christie’s New York as international director and head of the firm’s New York photographs department and of Christie’s New York 20th century decorative arts department (in the latter role he’ll work with Bevin Cline ’91). He’ll serve in both a managerial and international business-getting role, with focus on pursuing high-value property and single-owner collections…. The Univ. of Alaska-Fairbanks Department of Athletics has named Scott Jerome as the new head men’s and women’s cross country and Nordic ski coach. Scott has been head coach at Gustavus Adolphus in St. Peter, Minn., for four years…. Lara Rhame, senior foreign exchange economist at Brown Brothers Harriman & Co. in New York, was profiled in the August 2004 issue of Bloomberg Markets. She says the prospects for Europe’s economy are better than most people think. “The gloominess over the Euro-zone economy is overdone, and Euro-zone growth will accelerate in the second half of the year,” predicts Rhame, an avid traveler who often incorporates her personal observations into her currency forecasts. Rhame grew more optimistic about Europe’s economy during a 2003 Paris visit amid nationwide labor strikes. One day she encountered a massive demonstration by protesters calling for an end to the strikes. “In the U.S., the only stories you read were about the strikes, and it reinforced the notion that the European economy is hopelessly structurally inefficient,” Rhame says. “The counterdemonstration undermined my previous notions.”… Sanford Paek has been named sales manager of Business Wire’s  Boston office. Now that he’s married, Noah Snyder and his wife, Lydia, have moved back to the East Coast, where Noah will become an assistant professor in geology and geophysics at Boston College.
