One of Bates’ oldest alumni, Sr. Philippa Fisher, celebrated her 103rd birthday on Nov. 26, 2002. She was feted by staff and residents at Bethany Health Care Center in Framingham, Mass. Sr. Fisher became a Sister of St. Joseph in 1924, and vividly remembers her school years in Franklin, Mass., when her dog accompanied her to school and sat by her desk. She was a Latin teacher at Regis College for many years.
