The World AIDS Day observance at Bates on Dec. 1 included “Lives at Stake,” a student-organized installation on the Historic Quad comprising pictures and descriptions of 500 children with HIV/AIDS. Students, faculty, and staff were encouraged to select a portrait to wear around their necks for the day as a reminder that individuals can help turn the tide against the disease.
