18 Helen Clark Renwick entertained more than fifty relatives and friends at her 100th birthday last Sept. 28 in Portland. The guests included son Robert Renwick ’52 (whose son is Stephen’83), daughters Jean Renwick Schenck and Dorothy Renwick Wurlitzer, daughter-in-law Margery Renwick, and son Erle Renwick Jr. “She’s in almost perfect health,” reports Robert. “She manages to finish all the puzzles in the newspaper each day, and reads more now that she has a new magnifying glass lamp.”

24 In fairly good health at age 94, Doris Gallop Philbrick continues to enjoy reading, writing letters, and especially receiving letters from her friends and family. Music is still an important part of her life and she enjoys playing the piano for others who sing, and plays duets with her daughter and granddaughter. She is at Gilbert Manor, 13 Plaisted St., Gardiner, Maine 04345, and would love to hear from classmates.

Honorary class president Howard Bull wrote that he is “focusing on next year’s Reunion,” and says it “would be wonderful to see each and everyone there.” He and daughter Ellie had a great New England trip last July. After a memorial service for his only nephew, they renewed choice memories with Miriam McMichael Robinson during a couple of visits. (“Mike” has been our guiding light for as long as we can remember, and it is with sadness that we learned of her passing in December.)… Then it was on to Kay and Zeke Jewell‘s who treated Howard and Ellie to her double-layer blueberry pie…. A family gathering at Reunion Luncheon included Belva Carll Clapp and her sister, Crete Carll Tracy ’21 back for her 75th Reunion and recognized as the senior alumna present…. Helen Sanders Norrby and Winnie Sanders made the trip all the way from Newville, Pa…. Hugh and Erma Tetley Morton had three generations of their family including daughter Mary Morton Cowan ’61, son Tim ’91, and a 6-month-old grandson “whose college plans are on hold.” The Mortons saw more Bates people at The Temple in Ocean Park when Peter Gomes ’65 was the preacher…. Eleanor Wood received congratulations and best wishes from the Univ. of Maine/Farmington on her 90th birthday with a wonderful picture of the retired professor and UMF sports fan in the Lewiston Sun-Journal. Eleanor spent the summer doing some gardening at her Kingfield home and still lives in Farmington during the winter.
