York, RR 1, Box 833, Orrs Island, ME 04066-9727Carl Bergengren and Ruth have moved from their 10-room house in Glastonbury, Conn., to a three-room cottage in Cromwell, boasting a fireplace and a view of a “lovely pond complete with Canada geese.” The move prevented any travel and they were sorry to miss Reunion. Last year they had visits from all their children: Karen from Germany with grandchildren Sabrina and David who spent a month with them at their Guilford cottage. Sons Charles, professor at Cleveland Institute of Art, and Douglas also visited. The Bergengrens hoped health would permit them to make a trip to Germany…. We were glad to see Virginia Carville Martin at Reunion and sorry to learn of the death of her husband, Kenneth, in May…. We send sympathy to Art Danielsonwhose wife, Harriet, died in December 1996…. Because of family illness, Sara Jaffarian had to miss Reunion once again. She hoped to visit campus during the summer as she had donations for the College library. We’d love to have a visit with her…. Now comfortably ensconced in their new home, a brand new residential complex in Rustington, West Sussex, Ion and Betty Stevens Earle also missed Reunion because of their move. Less than a mile from their old home, they still see friends and continue as regular members of their church. She has given up driving because of eye problems, but has a most obliging chauffeur in Ion and bus transportation is nearby. Last spring the Earles traveled to Florida, visited friends and relatives, then embarked on a 12-day World Wildlife Federation trip to the Orinoco River, Tobago, Bonaire, Isla Margarita and Curacao, where they saw many species of wildlife and beautiful scenery. From late November to March they will be in New Zealand, near son Michael, enjoying a record summer… Millicent Thorp Pendleton has moved to Hartford, Conn., from Colorado, happy to be back East and nearer her college friends. Moving made it impossible for her to join the mini-reunion group at the North Hampton, N.H., home of Betty Ellis Hunt. Those who did attend includedMargaret Melcher Chamberlain, Betty Stockwell Oakes,Jeanne Walker Hapgood, and Happy Walker Webber | ||
