Jere Calmes and wife Elena live in Moscow with son Anton. Jere is now vice president of customer services and information technology at Bee Line/Vimpel Com, a Russian telecom corporation listed on the NYSE. Earlier they had lived in Cairo, Egypt. The former Bates skier reports that “not a lot of people know it, but Lebanon has some great snow skiing!” … Pete and Kim Skidmore Ciccarelli are in Boston. She graduated from Suffolk Law School last year and Pete teaches at Tufts…. Living in Boston, Bob Cole oversees a nationwide higher education consulting staff whose mission is to assist in financing college education for colleges and universities. “Everyone deserves an education.”… Living in Alexandria, Va., Micaela Corkery is head of human resources for Boston Consulting Group in D.C…. The Doug Coupes live in Charleston, SC, where he works in financial sales…. Craig D’Ambrosia is senior financial advisor of the loan division at Soil.com…. After seven years in the M.D./Ph.D. program at Pennsylvania, Karen Davis Sims graduated this year and is a resident in internal medicine at the Univ. of Pennsylvania Hospital. Husband Mike moves from residency to a fellowship at the same hospital. The doctors Sims have bought a house in the Philadelphia area…. Roland Davis is assistant dean of first-year students at 100-year-old Victorian house in West Lebanon and are quite content living in it… Laura Detwiler Keene is a part-time midwife at a local community health center in York, Maine… Tim Doherty is a manager for EMS Sports in Manchester, N.H…. In Los Angeles, Chris Donovan is an executive producer at Mad River Post, an editorial facility specializing in commercials and music videos. Chris has won three Clio awards on Star Wars Episode I for Pepsi…. Kathy Doughty Bamford received her M.Ed. from Lesley College and is certified to teach French. She’s taking a year off from teaching since the birth of son David, “continuing to work my Pampered Chef business from home.” She and David live in Rhode Island…. Kristen Downs Bruno recently earned tenure and is in her fourth year as a school psychologist at the Cromwell (Conn.) Middle School…. Peter and Kitty Northrop Friedman ’95 have lived in New York City for three years and Peter is headed to business school…. Tina Gibson finished her Ph.D. in human development and social policy at Northwestern in May 2001. Kristin Haga completed her Ph.D. in neuroscience at Kings College in London and is now a postdoctoral fellow at Yale Univ. School of Medicine. She plays on a local women’s rugby team…. In Africa, Eric Halvorson works at a local hospital…. Lori Haskins is now editoral director for Golden Books in New York City. She also has written and published several children’s books…. New mom Julie Hummer Berry is at home with two daughters and takes care of Heather Balser’s son Madison…. Fred Kaemmer and Kate Tilney still live in St. Paul, Minn., with their two dogs, Sal and Leo…. Rob and Cindy Ordway Kearney both work at State Street Corp. in Boston, Cindy in global cash management and Rob in marketing. They live in Rockland, Mass., with daughters Caitlin and Cassidy…. Scott Kelliher continues to work for Blades Board & Skate in New York, and spends all of his spare time rehearsing and performing with a number of different bands, two of which – Carlton Fisk and Eden White – have released new albums…. Having finished her residency in physical medicine and rehabilitation at UColorado-Denver, Karyn Landry Woelflein has moved back East to Bangor with husband Mike and dog Ted to join a rehab medicine practice…. Last summer Ben Lowenstein began a fellowship in cardiovascular medicine at the Maine Medical Center in Portland…. Erin Lydon-Becker is a private banker at J.P. Morgan covering the Midwest region and advises high net worth clients, foundations, and endowments. Her “little” brother, Michael is a first-year at Bates… Currently a Ph.D. candidate in anthropology at CUNY, Erin Martineau found her teaching fellowship, Introduction to Anthropology, at Queens College last year “fun and challenging.”… Jesse Miller writes: “I married Katya Goldberg (now Miller!) in September 2001 in San Francisco, where we have lived happily together the past five years. Batsies in a my wedding party included Eric DeMoudt ’91, Nikos Monogenis ’91, and Alexander Dyer. Also present for the nuptials was John Foster ’93. Katya and I had a wonderful honeymoon in Mexico. I have worked as a litigator at a few different Bay Area firms, spending the last year and a half at Seyfarth Shaw’s San Francisco office, focusing of employment and business litigation. My second job, however, is my favorite. I am an infantry officer in the Army National Guard. I am a captain and the commander of an infantry unit: Bravo Company, 1st Battalion 184th Infantry Regiment (Air Assault). My Army job has kept me very busy this year, as I spent several weeks at Fort Benning, Ga., and am readying my unit for deployment to Kuwait early next year. Given rec

Joe Moran is a project leader for Bear, Stearns & Co., the company’s biggest Web-based application. “It’s a lot of fun and very challenging.” In 1996 Joe earned his master’s in computer science from Stevens Institute of Technology. He also has been studying Tai Chi Chuan to help him unwind…. Aya Murata has a lot of responsibility at Phillips Academy, Andover, where she is, among other things, international student coordinator, advisor to Asian and Asian-American students, house counselor, and field hockey coach. For her master’s thesis in East Asian studies at Harvard, she wrote a biography of her grandmother, which received an award for the best graduate essay in the field of Japanese studies. She and husband Mike Charland ’93 bought a vacation house in Vermont last summer…. Assistant director of alumni relations at Bates, Marianne Nolan Cowan thinks it is fantastic to be back on campus. She and husband Tim ’91 live in Auburn with Patrick (5) and Kaitlyn (2). She says, “Great planning is going on for our 10th Reunion, June 7-9, so save the dates and plan to come see all the great development, classmates, and friends on campus!”… Colleen O’Brien has earned her master’s in environmental education and lives in Burlington, Vt…. Gary and Brooke Oliver Fritz have built a house in her hometown, Wayne, Pa. She is assistant athletic director at a private school in Philadelphia and coaches varsity soccer and lacrosse…. In San Francisco, Bob Parks and his wife both have writing jobs. He writes and edits for Wired magazine and she works for M-Business, a magazine about mobile tech…. Jeff and Rachel Oberholtzer Parsons live in Portland, where he is at UMaine law school. Rachel is director of the after-school program for the Scarborough school district…. Steve Peters is a research fellow at Michigan, where he finished his Ph.D. in geological sciences…. Last spring Amy Robbins was performing as a “Gecko in Flight” in Belfast, Maine, and has rededicated herself “to graduate study and sacred performance.”… After completing his M.A.T. at Pacific Univ. in 2000, Luke Robbins now teaches high school physics and chemistry in Eugene, Ore.… Isabel Roche is an assistant professor of French at Williams College and is finishing her Ph.D. at NYU…. Francois Meucci and Emily Romero returned from France last spring and are keeping up with Diego (1) and renovating an old Victorian outside Philadelphia…. Mark Rosenblum teaches French to middle and high school students at the Packer Collegiate Institute in Brooklyn, N.Y. He returns to France every summer to lead a language immersion trip for students…. Richard Samuelson received his Ph.D. in American history at Virginia in May. His dissertation, “The Adams Family and the American Experiment,” is an intellectual biography of four generations of the Adams family of Massachusetts that explores the family’s political ideas, from the American Revolution to the turn of the 20th century. Richard has spent this year in Glasgow, Scotland, as a lecturer in American history…. Jason Scott and Maria Gillombardo ’91 are in Urbana, Ill., where he works at Volition Inc., a video game developer. He designs and develops characters, plot, and dialogue for video games including FreeSpace 2 and Summoner. Maria passed her Ph.D. prelims in April…. Jeff and Jessica Sheridan Allen live in Rhode Island, where she is an at-home mom and Jeff works as a systems engineer in Boston…. Sengsouvanh Soukamneuth is a public policy researcher and dances with some modern dance companies in the Bay Area in her spare time. Husband Sam Leshnick is a graphic designer for March First, a media company in San Francisco. They spent their honeymoon touring Thailand and Laos…. Dawn Timmons works for the online group of Goldman-Sachs in Salt Lake City…. Last October, Jesseca Abar-Timmons with husband Abe and baby Palmer moved from Washington, D.C., to North Dakota for a two-year tour at Grand Forks Air Force Base…. Kip Van Volkenburgh and wife Sarah are in Salt Lake City, where he manages Cole Sports in Park City…. A free-lance writer and editor based in Shelburne, Vt., Larissa Vigue is coordinator of Champlain College Young Vermont Writers’ College in Burlington. She earned her master’s in English literature from Bread Loaf School, Middlebury, and enjoys her work as an Alumni-in-Admissions for Bates…. In Boston, Olivia Wakefield has been “working like a crazy busy management consultant.” She and husband Don Lee spent their honeymoon hiking Mayan ruins and scuba diving in Belize. They have bought a house in Sudbury, Mass…. Jenny Webster and husband Dave Lisle both are physicians in Syracuse, N.Y. … Kjesti Weisenberg works for an adventure travel Web site and enjoys life in her native San Francisco where she sees a lot of fellow Bates Bay Area residents…. Aaron and Sabune Turner Winkler are in Seattle, where he has returned to medical school at the Univ. of Washington. He had worked at the Genetics Institute in Boston while Sabune finished her Jus.D. at Northeastern.
