Kristen Andersen is assistant director of annual giving at Bates, where she’s been since September 2000. With her focus on young alumni programs, she hopes she’ll be able to see many classmates at regional events throughout the year…. Heather Adkins began a graduate program in the quaternary sciences at Northern Arizona Univ. “This program allows me to bring together work in a variety of disciplines to study alluvial archaeological sites, floodplain geomorphology, and paleoecology.”… Adam Blau moved to Berlin, where he lived twice while at Bates. He now has an apartment and his girlfriend Sara has joined him. While looking for a steady job, he is tutoring private students in business English…. Shannon Browher moved to Boston to begin a nursing job at St. Elizabeth’s Medical Center…. Jena Caruso is in her final year at BU School of Law. Last spring, she clerked for U.S. District Judge Joseph Tauro…. Emily Contrada received her master’s in early childhood education and is teaching first grade in Topsfield, Mass…. Michael Costa resides in Somerville, Mass., and until recently worked as a legislative aide for a state senator. He is now working on a documentary film tentatively entitled, Being Chris Patuto, which studies the trials and tribulations of being a young American living in post-Sept. 11 America…. Chelsea Dodgen and Justin Scheck live in San Jose, Calif. Chelsea is a floor manager at a gourmet sausage factory. Justin hopes to land a job before his credit cards are completely maxed out…. Kate Dodson works at the Kennedy School of Government at Harvard, where she coordinates communications, publications, and events for one of the school’s 10 research centers. She’s also taking classes toward an A.L.M. at Harvard, though she’s planning on going back full time to school in a year and, before then, traveling through Central America…. Robin Dodson is an environmental consultant with Menzie-Cura & Associates Inc. in Chelmsford, Mass. She started grad school at the Harvard School of Public Health, working toward a degree in environmental health…. Claire Donohue lives in Bronxville, N.Y., and works in the alumni office at the College of New Rochelle…. Courtney Elf married Ethan Rowe ’98 last June and received her master’s in music in May from BU…. Matthew Marshall Ensner opened an ecological consult/design/build company called Urban Ecologist in Asheville, N.C. He wants to expand his business into a mobile international affiliation of collaborative artists concerned with the creative fostering of healthful and more sustainably planned, constructed, and maintained urban environments worldwide…. Lisa Garsh completed her master’s program in elementary education at Brown Univ. She intended to teach in a primary classroom starting this fall…. Abigail Goen is teaching history to sixth graders at the Carroll School in Lincoln, Mass., a small private school where all the students have dyslexia or a similar language-based learning disability. She is starting to pursue graduate studies in education. She lives in Somerville with two other Batesies and is having fun in Boston…. Heather Gregory will be returning in April to Turkmenistan to finish her Peace Corps service, after having been evacuated following September 11. She is looking forward to completing her health education work there, and will be back in the U.S. in December or January…. Kate Haesche is working as a team leader at a little company called Circles, which has just recently become profitable. She spends her free time training and fundraising for the Boston Marathon, which she ran in April with the National Multiple Sclerosis Society team…. Eric Haglund started a stint in the Peace Corps, in Cote d’Ivoire, Africa in late January 2002. After three months training, he was assigned to a small village in the east-central part of the country for the next two years, doing work on the water and sanitation systems…. Laura Hardiman Pierce graduated from Univ. of Ala. with certifications in early childhood and elementary education. She and William are still working on their house and hoped to move in this summer. William works for Macess Corp., a computer software company…. Katherine Heggeman McDonald is employed by URS Corporation in Portland, Maine, as a geologist…. Mary Ellen Hennessey is in veterinary school at the Univ. of Penn. in Philadelphia…. Dzenana Idrizovic is a student at New England College of Optometry in Boston…. Molly Keehn entered Northeastern Univ.’s masters program in college counseling and higher student development this fall…. Kate Kenoyer is starting an international master’s degree program in intercultural communication and European studies in Fulda, Germany…. Cindy Kilbourne was elated when she received her acceptance letter at the end of February to her first choice physician assistant program at Quinnipiac University. She started there in June and will graduate in August 2004…. Eleanor Y. Lee has one year left at the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences in Washington, D.C. She occasionally ballroom dances with Mike Kitces…. Cynthia Macht spent a year working for the National Assoc. of State PIRGs (Public Interest Research Groups) and now loves waitressing at Ciao Bella on Newbury Street in Boston…. Kristen Massimine is in her second year of a pharmacology Ph.D. program at Yale University. She finished her requirements for both her M.S. and M.Phil degrees. Her thesis will deal with the characterization/discovery of a novel antimalarial drug. She is also involved in a biotechnology student group that does consulting projects for local biotech companies…. Elizabeth Merrill has begun a five-year doctoral program in clinical psychology at the Wright Institute in Berkeley, Calif…. Sara Milstein is teaching eighth grade English in Brooklyn, NY, through a program called the NYC Teaching Fellows. Within the next year she will get her master’s in secondary education. She hopes to teach in a high school one day…. Matthew Payson briefly tried out the New York lifestyle while working at a publishing company, and is now back on the Maine coast, where he’s convinced the quality of life is unbeatable. He worked with his family’s business last summer and planned to be in Germany during this academic year, as part of a graduate program in German through Middlebury College…. Dominique Peck finished Bank Street College of Education’s Museum Education Program in July 2002…. Natalie Phelps is working on a master’s in educational psychology at Southern Illinois Univ. in Carbondale…. Rebecca Quinn completed her first year at Tufts University School of Veterinary Medicine and plans on graduating in May 2005. In her spare time she works at the large animal hospital at Tufts…. Ben Shaw works in the New York City office of VIA, a strategic communications company based in Portland, Maine. Ben and Bernadette were planning to climb Kilimanjaro in July…. Since graduation, Kate Sidell has led the Experiment in International Living trip to Kenya for two summers, facilitated exhibits at the Science Museum in San Diego, and been a teaching intern at Kieve Leadership Decisions Institute in Maine. “I am currently working on my M.A.T. at Simmons College in Boston. In my time off I have been doing a lot of traveling, hiking, and skiing.”… Dan Siskind is pursuing a master’s in education and Calif. teaching credential at the Herb Kohl Center for Teaching Excellence and Social Justice at the Univ. of S.F…. Alicia Smith does fundraising for the International Rescue Committee, a non-profit refugee relief agency…. Jeff Snyder works in internal wholesale at American Skandia in Shelton, CT. He’s working on his CFP…. Emilie Soisson works in medical physics at Mass General Hospital…. Kevin Stroman is juggling three careers and preparing for a fourth. He’s back in New York doing some jazz singing here and there while tending to his corporate duties for Accenture. He’s become a partner in PBF Management, an artist management company based in New York. He’s also applying to business school…. After graduation, Renny Swan co-led a coed group of 13- and 14-year-olds to Mexico. “Last fall I moved to Portland, Ore., but I have ended up in Connecticut teaching languages in a middle school.”… Matt Twiest planned to start graduate school this fall, pursuing a master’s degree in musicology. His band, Greenhouse (formerly Lucky Strike) has played throughout N.E. and at many of Boston’s most popular venues…. Paul Urbanczyk just finished his master’s degree in aeronautical and astronautical engineering at Stanford, and is planning to pursue a Ph.D…. Dan Weinstock has been a chef at Spago for a year and a half. He works very long hours but finds his work very rewarding…. Katherine Whitney was accepted to graduate school at RISD where she started in September. She plans to be an art teacher. She also spent a month in Cambodia last year…. Johnny Woluewich is currently enrolled at New York Law School, specializing in entertainment law. He works for Def Jam Records, in their A&R Department. He has his own production label, called Lil Mac Records. His first artist, Amora, just appeared on Showtime and at the Apollo, and is currently working on her album with Sony Records’ Aaron Belifanti ’94…. Paul Yamin finished his M.P.H. degree in May. His primary concentration is health services, and secondary concentration is epidemiology/biostatistics. He’s been involved as an administration resident at Elliot Hospital in Manchester for the past year, trying to gain real-world experience.
