Bob Dylan (American, b.1941)
Born Robert Allen Zimmerman, Dylan is an icon of American folk and rock music and is among the most lauded singer-songwriters living today. His politically charged music, especially songs from The Times They Are a-Changin’, made Dylan into a hero to both members of the counterculture and the folk revival movement, and his lyrical talent has been repeatedly noted for its originality and purpose. Dylan’s musical career has spanned six decades and changed dramatically over time, ranging from traditional folk to rock to country to gospel music. He has achieved a massive list of accolades, including 10 Grammys, a Golden Globe, an Academy Award, the Presidential Medal of Freedom, and the Nobel Prize in Literature. Dylan has been on tour with almost no substantial interruptions since 1988, with tour shows still planned through at least 2024.
