Eileen Darby (American, 1916-2004)
Darby was a photographer of Broadway productions. She studied biology at Marylhurst University near Portland, Oregon but left for New York to pursue photography. She got a job working at Pix in the 1930s where from she was sent theatrical assignments. In 1941, Darby founded her own agency, Graphic House. All told, she photographed over 500 Broadway shows. Darby is known for her candid photographic style, bringing warmth and humanity to the burgeoning stars.
