William Wegman (America, b.1943)
Wegman is a contemporary photographer best known for his pictures and videos featuring his Weimaraner dogs. Born in Holyoke, Massachusetts, Wegman received a BFA in painting from the Massachusetts College of Art and Design and an MFA in painting from the University of Illinois of Urbana-Champaign. During the 1970s, Wegman began to incorporate dogs into his art to create surreal and sometimes humorous images that subverted the traditional photography style of the time. Wegman has exhibited in major museums and galleries around the world and is considered a pioneer in the realm of animal photography.
