Plien Air Painting Exhibition of the Workshop 2008
at Katahdin Lake with workshop leader Michael Branca
December 5 – 14, 2008
To foster better understanding and appreciation of plein air painting showcased in the exhibition Taking Different Trails: The Artists’ Journeys to Katahdin Lake , the Bates College Museum of Art convened an Otis Gathering with support from the college’s Otis Fund. The gathering consisted of artists, students, and museum personnel traveling to the remote Katahdin Lake for four days and three nights in October. Participants worked in drawing and painting media to investigate the landscape.
