Classical Guitar Magazine described Carlos Pavan’s work as “striking music (with) great originality.” He was born in Argentina, and after moving to New York in 2000 he became part of a growing movement of modern classical guitar composers creating music infused with new traditions and global influences. One of Carlos’s key features is his originality; he allows tango and folklore rhythms from his native country to coalesce beautifully with modern jazz harmonies and classical technique and form.

Carlos is a former student of legendary Jorge Morel, Dave Smey (Brooklyn Conservatory) and Pablo Ziegler (Astor Piazzolla’s pianist). He has performed in France, Canada, Portugal, Ireland, Japan, Argentina and the United States. He has also recorded three albums of his own compositions, including a special guest performance by New York based contemporary string quartet PUBLIQuartet (Carnegie Hall debut 2015). Presently, he is the artistic director and composer of the Park Slope Chamber Players and is anticipating an ambitious new album being released soon on Centaur Records.
