Presented by: The Bates Department of Music: Hideki Yamaya is a performer of lutes, early guitars, and mandolins of international renown bases in Connecticut. He has performed with and for some of the most prestigious organizations around, including Portland Baroque Orchestra, Los Angeles Opera, Folger Consort, and Shakespeare’s Globe Theatre. He will present a program featuring some of the greatest Italian lute music from the 16th-century. Composers represented include Joan Ambrosio Dalza, Francesco Spinacino, Francesco da Milano, Giovanni Antonio Terzi, and Simone Molinaro. He will play on 7-course and 8-course Renaissance lutes.
