Bates Concert Band to perform

The Bates College Concert Band, under the direction of Mark Manduca, a member of the college’s applied music faculty, will perform at 8 p.m. Wednesday, March 17 in the Olin Arts Center Concert Hall, 75 Russell St. The public is invited to attend, and admission is free.

The program includes Giuseppe Verdi’s “Overture to ‘La Forza del Destina,'” Guy Woolfenden’s “Illyrian Dances,” Aaron Copland’s “Down a Country Lane” and Gordon Jacob’s “Concerto for Band.” After a brief intermission, the concert will conclude with Ron Nelson’s “Courtly Ayres and Dances” and Frank Ticheli’s “Cajun Folk Songs.”
