The Martin Luther King Jr. Read-in
Wednesday, Jan. 23 and Thursday, Jan. 24
1-2 p.m. on both days; you may choose the day you prefer. More readers are needed on Wednesday.
The Bates College education department and Center for Service-Learning sponsor an annual Martin Luther King Day Read-In at Martel School. Student, staff and faculty volunteers are encouraged to participate. Readers will share a book with a diversity theme with a 4th-, 5th- or 6th-grade student. The book will then be given to the child to keep.
Carpools will leave the Center for Service-Learning, 161 Wood St., at 12:50 p.m. each day. A brief orientation will be held in the Martel School Library at 1 p.m. Readers will read with students from 1:15-2 p.m.
For more information, or to sign up, contact Sue Martin, Center for Service-Learning, at this smartin@bates.edu, x8235. Please indicate if you are willing to transport others.
