Howard Thurman was a champion of intercultural understanding and a powerful influence on Martin Luther King Jr. Thurman met with Ghandi while developing his social philosophies. The McClendon father-son duo will reflect on Thurman’s insights in an open dialogue. John McClendon II founded and directs the McClendon Institute for Learning, a provider of educational and daycare services in Dayton, Ohio. John McClendon III is associate professor of African American studies and American cultural studies at Bates College.
