The department welcomes two visiting faculty, Paul Eason in Japanese history and Jennifer Adair in Latin American history. Be on the lookout for new courses in both fields this fall and winter.
Jason Thompson will again teach courses in the history of the Middle East, and will add a new course this winter on the French Revolution and Napoleon. The department also welcomes back Margaret Creighton and Caroline Shaw from their years of research and writing, and we wish Atsuko Hirai a restful year of leave and Karen Melvin a pleasant fall semester of teaching in Spain.
Warm wishes, too, to John Cole for a happy retirement from 45 years of teaching.
