Merrymeeting Band next in Lakeside series
Presenting favorite sounds from near and far, the Midsummer Lakeside Concert Series at Bates College continues with the Merrymeeting Community Band at 6 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 2, in the Florence Keigwin Amphitheater at Lake Andrews.
Sponsored by the Bingham Betterment Fund, the Garcelon Society and Bates’ Information and Library Services division, these family concerts are open to the public at no cost. Listeners are encouraged to bring a picnic and lawn chairs or blankets.

Hailing from Topsham, Maine, the Merrymeeting Community Band is a multigenerational ensemble with musicians from 12 to almost 80 years old, all under the direction of horn player and musical educator Margery Landis. Their diverse repertoire includes classic show tunes, marches, patriotic music, a little rock ‘n’ roll and contemporary compositions for concert band.
