Nora Chipaumire will be on campus Nov. 5 - 16 for a choreographic and teaching residency with Dance, with the work to be performed in our upcoming Fall Dance Concert at the end of the semester. This residency is a co-sponsored event between BDF and the Department of Theater and Dance. I am in process of scheduling additional campus events to connect with international students and various departments.
Chipaumire is an internationally recognized contemporary artist and this is truly an exciting event for our students and the greater community. She was recently featured in an October issue of the New Yorker with a full page photo and has accolades from across the globe. https://www.companychipaumire.com/
An exciting feature of her upcoming work is that she is seeking students to be involved in this work that are coming from many life experiences, not just "dancers," and will be diving into challenging, pertinent content that has much relevance culturally and politically.](https://www.bates.edu/news/files/2018/11/181114_Nora_Chipaumire_0023-200x133.jpg)

- The Lewiston Sun Journal, July 7, 2014
The viscerally charged and dramatic “Heart of the Matter” marks Prometheus’ 25th anniversary. Exquisitely performed by the company of eight, the piece dissects the impact of relationships over time and how we hurt each other in the name of love.
“Heart of the Matter,” wrote Boston Globe reviewer Karen Campbell, reflects “the essence of our true selves after we strip away the dreams and experiences of life that no longer matter.” The dancers “reveal this essence by slowly peeling away the vestiges of civility until we are left with little but primal urges.”
With “Heart of the Matter,” Campbell wrote, “the choreographers have hit the jackpot.”
Prometheus Dance holds a free Show & Tell lecture-demonstration at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, July 8, in Schaeffer, and offers question-and-answer sessions following the July 11-12 performances. At 7 p.m. July 12 in Schaeffer Theatre, prior to the evening performance, dance writer Debra Cash offers an Inside Dance lecture.
