New gifts of $19 million to Bates shine a spotlight on two great Bates qualities, says Michael Bonney ’80, chair of the Bates Board of Trustees.

The gifts, from seven Bates families, will endow six new professorships and launch a new Program in Digital and Computational Studies. Bonney and his wife, Alison Grott Bonney ’80, contributed $10 million.
