Dion of Truckee, Calif., makes ceramic tiles that she arranges into unified, dynamic compositions.
She forms 4-inch-by-4-inch clay tiles, presses relief patterns into them, and then glazes them in simple natural forms, while including some white space for contrast. Colors and patterns inform the larger arrangements of the tiles. “My work is patterned and decorative, colorful and highly detailed,” she says.
