We are excited to welcome Professor Jason Castro to the department.

Professor Castro comes to us from his recent post-doc at the University of Pittsburgh and will be teaching physiological psychology in the fall.

We are also happy to welcome back to the department professors Georgia Nigro, Kathy Mathis and Jill Reich. Georgia will teach Developmental Psychology and Community Psychology in the fall, Kathy Mathis will teach Research Methodology also in the fall, and Jill will begin teaching courses in the Development and Personality areas, as well as in Cultural and Social, in winter 2013.

Also, as many of you already know, this autumn Professor Kathy Low will serve as an associate dean of the faculty. Although she will supervise some thesis students, she will be released from all other teaching responsibilities. In addition, professors Boucher and Nigro will be on leave in the winter and Short Term semesters.

We’re proud to announce that the psychology department received the 2012 Culture of Service Award from the American Psychological Association. The APA noted that our “department exemplifies what a culture of service to the discipline should be.” We are truly honored to have our commitment to service recognized by the largest scientific and professional organization representing psychology.
