The process of pottery itself, the way it bridges antiquity and modernity, inspires her to explore the relationships between coarse, textured surfaces and smooth, refined ones. “Pottery can be simultaneously beautiful and useful,” she says, “and I want to make beautiful pieces that are used until they are broken.”
