Senior Exhibition artist Liana Blum ’12
Blum of Hastings-on-Hudson, N.Y., is fascinated by vintage fashion, religious icons and chance happenings.
A photographer, she assembled her images of women into a sort of altarpiece. Blum transcends the mechanical nature of photography by adding gold leaf and ink to her prints, and embracing mistakes and imperfections.” Her work is informed by “issues of dominance and objectification, psychological instability and autonomy. I strived for moments when the gaze of the camera was met directly without modesty or diffidence.”
