Summer Newsletter 2012: Environmental Health and Safety Office

In October 2010, Bates and the Lewiston Fire Department held a Fire Safety Day that may have been an eye-opener in revealing the value of Bates safety polices.

The highlight was a simulated dorm room fire that graphically illustrated the hazards posed by candles, unauthorized cooking appliances, clutter and overflowing trash containers.

If there’s a fire, the speed at which smoke and flames develop could make it difficult to escape your residence. So never be complacent when the fire or smoke detectors start sounding.

We’re looking forward to your return in September, and remember A SAFE Batesie is a HAPPY Batesie.
