Babb exhibition enters final weeks

A major exhibition of Maine landscapes by Joel Babb, whose realist approach has made him a favorite with collectors all over the Northeast, is featured at the Bates College Museum of Art through Dec. 29.A resident of Buckfield and an instructor at the School of the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, Babb has been a notable presence in New England art for more than 20 years. He is known for large, luminous, boldly colored works whose approach to imagery and composition is virtually photographic.

Victoria Wyeth, granddaughter of famed painter Andrew Wyeth and guest curator of the "Andrew Wyeth: Her Room" exhibit at Bates College, will discuss his work and the exhibit at 3 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 13 and 20, and Sunday, Jan. 14 and 21, in the Bates College Museum of Art, Olin Arts Center.
'Numinous Flesh' exhibit opens at Bates College

The Bates College Museum of Art celebrates its season- opening exhibition, "Numinous Flesh, paintings by Alex Grey," with a lecture by and a reception for the artist at 7 p.m. Sept. 5. The lecture will be in Room 104 of the Olin Arts Center, and the reception will be in the museum. The public is invited and admission is free.
