Preparing for summer at Bates
Hello, Bates families –
It’s the final week of the academic year! Short Term classes are winding to a close, students are packing up their rooms, and seniors are preparing for Commencement Weekend. Before we close the book on another year, there are a few reminders we would like to share with you:
- Returning students received this notification about the Bates College Student Health Insurance Plan (SHIP). Students must take action to enroll in or request to waive the SHIP through the Garnet Gateway by Wednesday, May 22. Please note that if your returning student does not complete this process, a fee will be placed on their student account, and they will be enrolled in the SHIP. Questions about the enroll/waive process are answered in this FAQ and can be directed to the College Health Account Manager, Lisa Farrington, at Lisa.Farrington@crossagency.com.
- For non-senior students who are on campus finishing up Short Term, residences will close on Thursday, May 23 at 5:00 p.m. Short Term seniors and students who have a sibling walking at Commencement should move out of their residences by Sunday, May 26 at 5:00 p.m.
- If you haven’t yet, we hope you’ll add Back to Bates: September 27-28 to your calendar. This event is a popular one among families and alumni, so we recommend making your travel and accommodation arrangements early.
Did you know? There are a variety of opportunities for families to create their own Bates experience in ways that are meaningful to them. Our team works with volunteers in hosting events, welcoming new families, serving as parent-to-parent resources on Arrival Day, serving on the Parents Fund Committee or on the Senior Parent Gift Committee, and more. Let us know if you’re interested in discussing how you might like to make a difference at Bates.
We hope you and your Bobcats have a wonderful summer ahead, and look forward to welcoming you back to campus in early September!
Best from campus,
The Bates Parent Team
