Congratulations on your student’s acceptance to Bates! We are thrilled to welcome them to the Class of 2029, and to welcome you to the Bates family community!

This is an exciting moment not only for your student, but for your entire family as you prepare for the transition to college. We look forward to supporting you along the way with timely resources, campus and regional events, and regular communication.

What to expect next:

Your student will continue hearing from the Admission team through their Admission portal from now until early May 2025. Resources for both admitted students and families are available at the Admitted Students site. This site is also where you can register for admitted student visit days and virtual parent panels, which will be offered later this spring.

Once the full class has been set in late spring 2025, students will begin receiving regular communication from the First-Year Experience team. This team will support students in preparing throughout the summer and navigating their arrival to campus in the fall.

As a Class of 2029 family, you will also begin to hear from us, the Bates Parent Team, with regular updates in the spring. Our team will confirm that we have your contact information, so that we can ensure you have all the information you need to support your Bobcat, not just in the months ahead, but throughout their time on campus. In addition to regular summer updates, families can also anticipate in-person welcome events, virtual information sessions, and other opportunities to connect with the extended Bates community.

While Arrival Day may be months away, your journey as a Bates family starts now. We encourage you to explore our Family Resources to get to know more about the Bates student experience. Show your school spirit and gear up in garnet through the Bates College Store. Most importantly, take a moment to celebrate this important accomplishment with your student.
