Hello, Bates Class of 2022 Families –

We are excited to let you know that Bates has just announced the 2022 honorand class! 

The following individuals will receive honorary degrees from Bates on Sunday, May 29 at the Class of 2022’s Commencement ceremony:

• Michael Bonney ’80, biotechnology leader, Bates alumnus, and longtime Bates Trustee
• Nikki Giovanni, acclaimed poet
• Nirav Shah, director of the Maine Center for Disease Control
• Becca Stevens, author, Episcopal priest, and founder of Thistle Farms

Dr. Shah will serve as our Commencement speaker. The Class of 2022 senior speaker has not yet been announced.
