Dear Students,

I hope that your summer has been both productive and enjoyable. I am looking very forward to seeing you back on campus in a couple of weeks.

I am writing to you today to share some important information related to self-identifying gender identity and personal pronouns. The college is providing students, faculty, and staff with the ability to self-disclose gender identity and personal pronouns in support of the college’s commitment to creating an inclusive and welcoming campus environment. Information regarding gender identity will be used as aggregate data to assist the college in providing programming and support to all community members. Personal pronouns will appear on advising and class rosters and will be available to those staff members who provide student services. You will also have the option to include your personal pronouns in your campus directory listing. (Login with Bates credentials is required to access any student directory listing.)

If you wish to provide this information, simply log into your Garnet Gateway account. A link to the page will appear in your “To Do” list. You may also access this information under the Account Access menu. You have the ability to share both your gender identity and your pronouns; you may also decline to share one or the other.

Enjoy the remaining days of summer.

Sincerely,
Joshua McIntosh, Vice President for Campus Life
