Resources Available to all Bates Students
The range of academic and support services for Bates students is broad. We outline below some of the key services available, though the list is not exhaustive.
Academic Support
Visit Academic Affairs for a comprehensive listing of available Academic Resources at Bates College.
Academic Performance Concerns
Usually around mid-term, students who are falling behind in a course may receive a notice of concern from the course instructor and from a member of the Student Affairs staff regarding the student’s academic performance in the course. If you receive such a notice, consult with your instructor, your faculty advisor, and/or your Student Support Advisor.
Other Types of Support
The following resources are also accessible to all students.
Health Services
Health Services strives to enhance each student’s well-being by providing comprehensive, confidential health care and by encouraging informed, individual participation on health related decisions. Health Services provides both medical and counseling services to students.
Student Support Advisors
Student Support Advisors provide personal support and supplemental academic advising to a cohort of students. Students are assigned a Student Support Advisor prior to their matriculation and remain with their advisor for the duration of their enrollment at Bates.
Multifaith Chaplaincy
The Multifaith Chaplaincy creates inclusive programs and events for reflection, engagement, contemplation, and spiritual formation. Chaplains can connect you to various religious student groups on campus and also offer confidential conversation for students, faculty, and staff.
Student Center for Belonging and Community
The Student Center for Belonging and Community seeks to promote a campus climate where inclusion, compassion and respect are at the core of community.
